Ten Minute Writing Responses!

In Class Writing Prompt #1

Am I afraid of writing and being creative within my writings? The answer to that question is somewhat in the middle. I absolutely love writing but I don't think I'm that creative when it comes to coming up with my own ideas for a topic. Sometimes I feel like my topic won't be very interesting, informative, or even good enough to follow. So, I find it easier when a topic is given to me. After that, my fingers just fly across the keyboard and it could be done in a short time. If I can work through my fear to achieve self-efficacy by writing down a list of topics before I start writing. This way, I have a variety to choose from and I'm not leaving anything out. I have come up with a list of topics from past experiences or things I enjoy doing on a regular basis. Making that list helped me through a high school class called Creative Writing. I was able to look off the topic list I created in order to get my story ideas.

Another way I can become creative within my writings is look at my surroundings. What can I use to make up for a great story? I could use something about nature or the people around me and how they are going about their day. When I was in the Creative Writing class in high school, we had a book of prompt ideas to help us if we got stuck. They would give us a topic or ask a question, then the rest was up to us and our creative minds to take it wherever it needed to go. Since I was in that class, it helped me a lot by becoming creative within my writings and gave me a few pointers. Now that doesn't mean that I'm still not somewhat nervous about getting a topic of my own, but the pointers and experience that I have, make me feel a little better when it comes to my own personal writings.

I would sometimes get that random 'light bulb' on the top of my head when it comes to a topic. It feels like it just pops up, without any notice, and I get what seems like an awesome idea for a writing piece. Sometimes, though, the idea would just flop and I would lose that creative mentality that I thought I had before. I always think of past memories to help me with a topic, also. That really helps me when it comes to writing a creative piece!
